week 5

Formative assessment are a great way to stop in the middle of a unit to see if anything needs to be reviewed before it is too late. Much of the time when a student is struggling, it would be better for the teacher to work with the student right away in order for that student to be able to move forward. A pre-assessment would give the teacher a clue on to their background knowledge. This way a teacher will know ahead of time, how to adjust the curriculum to the needs of the classroom. Formative assessment can be done individually and count as a grade or done in a group. When in a group, the teacher can observe students and their social skills. These formative assessments are a great tool for their social- emotional.

A formative assessment can also be done in a fun way, so the students will not feel the pressure of a test. One teacher I work with,  does formative assessment would be with Kahoot. She observes which student is understanding the questions and the student with the slowest time will indicate that he/she is struggling. This way the teacher would be able to work with the student in a small group. I believe this will be something I will do in my classroom to help me adjust to the needs of my classroom. This will be a great tool, I can use to create  my small groups to target those students. In a Dual-Language, a formative assessment would be a great way to see what Spanish academic vocabulary they are lacking. Once they receive the Spanish vocabulary the bridging to english will go a lot smoother. Personally , I would like the feedback from the students to know if my lesson is going correctly before it is too late.
